Sambuh is an app designed to help young people achieve their goals during their stay at a residential care home. To make their stay more tangible, a digital plant grows while the app is being used, and when the goals are achieved, beautiful flowers bloom.
The goals that young people must achieve in order to be considered ready to leave Sambuh are the same as those previously written in their implementation plan. Since the goals are too abstract, they are broken down into several small, short assignments. If they complete the assignments, a digital plant grows, representing the young people's development. The better they perform their assignments and participate, the more the plant grows. When the young person's contact person at Sambuh considers that they have achieved one of the goals, the flower grows. The app can clearly visualize and clarify for the young people what it means to live in the HVB home. The young people become more active during their time living in the home. The goal is for the young people to complete their entire independence process, to be able to live in their own accommodation. With the help of the app, the young people can see which areas they need to practice and how much of their stay remains.
