Together with Suicide Zero, we have developed the guide Våga fråga Pocket (Dare to Ask Pocket).
The purpose of Våga fråga Pocket is to increase preparedness and knowledge among the general public. To detect suicidal risk and to have difficult but vital conversations with a family member, friend, or colleague, which can be the turning point in a suicidal process.
The goal is to save more lives.
Dare to ask Pocket is free for anyone who wants to learn more about how to save lives.
The guide has six sections that teach you more about how to act if someone seems to be feeling bad or has suicidal thoughts. You can also listen to personal stories from people with experience.

Dare to ask Pocket has been developed by Suicide Zero and Dimh with financial support from Vinnova.

It can be difficult to talk about suicide. There are many myths that can create mental anguish and stress for people who feel they want to but don't dare. In Dimh UI/UX's work, we wanted to simplify this process by providing information in a simple and stress-free way.
The challenge was to gather and structure a lot of information. At the same time, we wanted to make it feel interactive. To give the impression that the content is easy to understand and nothing to be afraid of.
That's why we designed a system that allows users to have all of the above on a single page. With an intelligent structure and functions that bring up and remove material with simple swipes and gestures. The idea is that you should be just a button, a swipe away from the information you need.

The buttons and icon graphics are a combination of soft and hard shapes. What is particularly important is represented by hard shapes, while what is intended to be informative and guiding is represented by soft shapes.
The images have been selected to show human encounters and convey a sense of hope and comfort. When graphics and text are included in the images, a dark filter is always applied to ensure readability and accessibility.

The collaboration began with a workshop in Stockholm. To identify needs and the desired effects of the tool, we went through several points such as suicide prevention, various concepts, choice of words relating to suicide, mental illness, and what it can be like to be worried about someone. We also discussed how individuals can gain the knowledge to dare to ask another person.

We wanted to focus on people and use stories about suicidal tendencies as the starting point for the material. It was important to create a clear flow of information with structured and easily accessible content.
The material was intended to help those who are concerned about someone close to them and show them how to start a difficult conversation. A user journey was developed to guide users in daring to ask about suicidal thoughts, based on "Suicide Zero's VågaFråga" training and designed in pocket format.
A prototype was created and used in target group testing to gather feedback.
Target group testing was carried out at the start of the project's concept phase and also during the development phase. We did this to ensure that the guide met the needs and desired effects. We then made adjustments based on feedback from the target group.
For Dimh, this is a very important part of the process. It ensures that we are heading in the right/wrong direction, while also providing a basis for our reasoning when we have to make decisions.
During development, iterative changes were made to the guide based on feedback from the target audience and experts.
With a dedicated and meticulous development team, who were involved from the start and throughout the entire process, Våga fråga Pocket was delivered in October 2022.
Already in the concept phase, we took steps to make the guide as accessible as possible. Therefore, there was great value in offering filmed material as an alternative to text.
An expert at Suicide Zero supplements the various sections of the guide with recorded video.
The filmed material was tested during target group testing. The majority of participants stated that it is good to have alternatives to text.
During the development of the guide, we recorded personal stories in video format. The idea behind including personal stories was to enable readers to relate to situations they have experienced themselves or may encounter in the future.
Bengt, Anna, Claes, Bosse, and Emma were the individuals who shared their personal experiences on the subject. Their moving stories can be found in the guide.
